Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland. "Utilitarian Beach". Seen in the background here, the Long Range is the name of the mountain chain I paralleled through Gros Morne and on my way up the Great Northern Peninsula. They're the furthest north extension of the Appalachians in North America, with peaks as high as 2,600 feet (800m) - though when these mountains were formed 1.2 billion years ago, it's said they were as tall as the Himalayas. Parc national du Gros-Morne, Terre-Neuve. «Plage utilitaire». Vues au fond ici, la Long Range est le nom de la chaîne de montagnes que je suivais à travers Gros-Morne et en route vers le haut de la Grande péninsule du Nord. Elles sont l'extension la plus au nord des Appalaches en Amérique du Nord, avec des pics aussi hauts que 800 mètres - mais quand ces montagnes ont été formées il y a 1,2 milliards d'années, on dit qu'elles étaient aussi grandes que l'Himalaya.
