Summary[edit]
DescriptionTalbot Village, churchyard cross - geograph.org.uk - 1106994.jpg |
English: Talbot Village, churchyard cross. Ionic cross in the churchyard of St. Mark's; memorial to Georgina Talbot, builder of Talbot Village 1109271. Part of the inscription records that "In the neighbourhood of this village, she passed twenty-five years of blameless life, giving up time and fortune to bettering the condition of the poorer classes, seeking to minister to their temporal and spiritual welfare, and erecting habitations suitable to their position in life"; her funeral was the first service to be held in the newly-completed church. In the distance, woodland belonging to the estate. |
