Summary[edit]

Description
English: An illustration of the spread of majority languages in Western Europe around CE 700. Oudengels = Old English, Oudfrans = Old French, Oudfries = Old Frisian, Oudsaksisch = Old Saxon, Oudnederlands = Old Dutch, Oudhoogduits = Old High German. Note that these regions were in no way or sense homogenous, rather a collection of dialects.
