Description
English: Tarbert, Isle of Gigha The name Tarbert is a common one in Highland Scotland, meaning in Gaelic literally "draw boat" or "portage", ie an isthmus. The word may originally derive from Norse. Tarbert farm on Gigha is in fact about 800 metres south of the narrow isthmus towards the north end of the island. The hill on the skyline is Creag Bhan NR6450.
