Description
English: The temple of Asclepius (Asklepios). Small Doric building, 3rd century BC. Lissos, Crete. Inscriptions and mosaic floor added during the Roman times. During the early Christian period an attempt to purify the temple has been made: sign of the cross were engraved on the masonry. It had been crushed by enormous rocks, probably because of a strong earthquake.
English: Asklépiův chrám, menší dórská stavba z 3. století před n. l., Lissos, Kréta. Nápisy a mozaiková podlaha byly přidané v římské době. Během raně křesťanského období bylo ve snaze očistit chrám do jeho zdi vyryto znamení kříže. Stavba byla zničena obrovskými padajícími kameny, pravděpodobně při silném zemětřesení.
