English: Installation of a temporary wastewater sludge treatment plant progresses at the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission plant in Newark, N.J., in November 2012. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is overseeing construction of the temporary facility to serve the community until the main facility, inundated by more than 200 million gallons of seawater in the storm surge after Hurricane Sandy, returns to full service. One of the missions under the federal government’s Sandy response and recovery efforts is helping return critical public infrastructure damaged by the storm to service.
