Summary[edit]
DescriptionTerracotta army xian assembling warriors.jpg |
English: Terracotta Warriors being re-assembled after broken pieces (in packages behind figure) were removed from earth matrix. Photo taken Richard Chambers on AAA Yangtze Sampler tour, May, 2004.
Most photographs show the re-assembled terra cotta army figures. In this particular building of the museum, one of three I think, there is an area towards the back of the building which contains partially re-assembled figures. The parcels on the floor behind each figure contains the pieces that were removed from the earth and which have not yet been put back into place. This photo also shows some of the differences between the faces of each figure as well as the differences in body types. I understand from the tour guide that each face is unique but the bodies are one of five types. The body type varies as to the duties of the warrior for instance if an infantry warrior, an officer, a charioteer, an archer, etc. This photo was shot with a 3.2 megapixel Olympus C-740 digital camera and stored as a jpeg file. The jpeg was downloaded to a PC where the original image was modified by reducing the size by 50% creating this 1024x768 image and then exported as a jpeg file with a 27% compression using YUV 4.4.4 high resolution compression with Micrografx Picture Publisher 7.0. |
