Description
English: The Canadian Six receive a celebratory welcome home at a press conference at the Department of State on February 2, 1980. (From left to right) Robert Anders, Kathleen and Joseph Stafford, Mark and Cora Lijek, and Lee Schatz. The "Canadian SIx" were the six American diplomats who evaded capture by taking shelter with Canadian diplomats when the U.S. embassy in Tehran was seized after the Iranian Revolution in November 1979. They were rescued in a joint covert operation by the Canadian government and the CIA.
