Summary[edit]

Description
English: The 'Spreadeagle', corner of Katharine Street with High Street This fine four-square building probably dates from around 1890 and was originally the Union Bank of London. With various bank amalgamations it became the National Provincial Bank and then the National Westminster, but because Nat West had another bank very close by, this one was sold and became a public house, self-styled as an 'Ale and Pie' house.
