Description
English: The Darius seal. The Achaemenid king Darius I stands in a royal chariot (below god Ahura Mazda) and shoots arrows at a rampant lion. The seal probably belonged to a high-ranking official, not Darius himself. Tri-lingual cuneiform inscription (Elamite, Old Persian, and Babylonian); it reads " Darius, Great King". Chalcedony/prase. From Thebes, Egypt. 6th-5th century BCE. British Museum Reference (On display (G52/dc3))
