Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Ellen Strange Cairn. This grid square is mostly open moorland, with the odd farm, but it is broken up by the Ellen Strange cairn and monument. The cairn reputedly marks the site where Ellen Strange was murdered by her husband (or lover in some reports) in about 1750. The stone was added in 1978.

A site visitor adds this information found in local history archive -

The Cairn is approximately 8 feet in diameter and 5 feet high with the custom being for anyone passing to add another stone
