Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Hiroshima Tree During WWII George Wylie, the sculptor, served in the Royal Navy. His ship was in the North Pacific when the atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Two months later he visited the site and was deeply affected by the utter devastation. He took this photograph of the scene which now hangs on the wall. In 2005 he created this sculpture of a charred tree with pulverised granite and globules of molten glass at its base. It is situated inside St. John's Episcopal Church at the west end of Princes Street, Edinburgh.
