Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Located along Willamette Boulevard, near Columbia Park and the University of Portland, is the privately-owned John Mock House. It's one of several historic sites in North Portland, but one of the few on the NRHP. This is actually the second home of John Mock; his first was a log cabin that burned down. Mock was one of the many pioneers who came to Oregon, arriving with his family in 1852. He would go on to serve as a city councilman. Yet his civic patronage helped improve the area. For example, he donated the land upon which Columbia University was built. (Columbia University happens to be the prior identity of the University of Portland.) The university and home are two reminders of Portland's historic past.

This is an image of a place or building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the United States of America. Its reference number is 80003370.
