English: The Lang Dyke See 1940839 for the main description.
The beacon visible in the present view is 1941032 (which was used as the subject location for this photograph). On the far side of the river, on the skyline just to the right of the beacon, is 37813. To the left of the beacon, nearer the shore, is Dove Cottage (NS4372). See the "more sizes" link for slightly more panoramic versions, which show a longer section of the Lang Dyke; in those views, it is also possible to see, a little further to the left, an obelisk on the skyline; this is the Blantyre Monument: 448575. [An unrelated feature that happens to share the name of the Lang Dyke is located in the hills about 7.5 kilometres to the north; that feature is a prominent natural ridge: 1153417.] |
