Summary[edit]
DescriptionThe Lang Dyke - geograph.org.uk - 912926.jpg |
English: The Lang Dyke. This ridge is prominent from a distance, and its long axis has as east-west orientation; boulders protrude from both of its sides: 912954.
While it resembles certain mounds associated with burial chambers, the ridge is a geological formation rather than an archaeological one (on a larger scale, there are several dykes and sills located in this part of the Kilpatrick Hills plateau). The photograph was taken from on top of the feature, and is a view to the west, towards the summit of the Hill of Standing Stones. Compare a winter view towards the east: 1153417. [For the wall called the Lang Dyke that is prominent in the River Clyde, about 7.5 kilometres to the south, see 1805708.] |
