| Description |
English: 60103 in light steam at Rawtenstall during residents' weekend. I think it was £15 to get on the footplate tour and to toot the whistle. Some people might think it was "milking" the public but it costs a fair few bob to restore and maintain a ninety-five year old locomotive and also to run trains and maintain the infrastructure on heritage railways so good luck to Riley's and the ELR. Currently no idea what the wreath was for - I expect it commemorates a member of the ELR or the Riley shed.
Postscript - Sir William McAlpine, a long term supporter of heritage rail with a major association to 60103, died on 3rd March so I assume it was a mark of respect to him. |
