| Description |
English: The Old Racecourse This is the old alignment of the back of Epsom Downs racecourse, seen from the turn of Downs House Road. Trainers and jockeys loathed the steep uphill start to races from the bottom of the valley, and the course was eventually moved to its present higher alignment, slightly to the south, in the nineteenth century. These hedged baulks still mark the old course. |
