English: The Vicars of Great St Mary's Although GSM is commonly known as the University Church, the list of its vicars goes back nearly 80 years before the first college was founded. Among notable recent incumbents may be seen Mervyn Stockwood, later Bishop of Southwark; Hugh Montefiore (Bishop of Birmingham); Stanley Booth-Clibborn (Bishop of Manchester)
and Michael Mayne (Dean of Westminster). This list is displayed just inside the south door of the church. |
