The attack on Secundra Gunge, near Allahbad, charge of the Royal Horse Artillery

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The attack on Secundra Gunge, near Allahabad, charge of the Royal Horse Artillery.
Depicts the charge of E Troop (later D Troop) at Secundra Gunge near Allahabad on 5 January 1858. The gunners fought the action as cavalry.

While on their way to Allahabad having located a large formation of mutineers, the commander of the troop, Major Anderson RHA ordered his men to leave their guns, draw swords and charge the enemy. After fierce hand to hand fighting, and hundreds of enemy casualties, the mutineers fled.
