| Description |
English: The city walls near the Kaleyards Gate The view south along the city walls from just outside the Kaleyards Gate. Close inspection of the walls at this point shows how much rebuilding has taken place in 2000 years. The low section of massive stones in front of the current wall is part of the original Roman wall. The pigeon house is an attempt to reduce the pigeon population in Chester by concentrating them in one place so that eggs can be removed. This is the only place in Chester where it is legal to feed the pigeons. |
