| Description |
English: The head of Loch Iubhair under ice Lots of footprints in the snow on top of the ice on Loch Iubhair suggested that plenty of people had had enough confidence to ignore repeated warnings on the TV and radio to stay off frozen rivers and lakes, but the state of the ice by this time suggested that it was perhaps getting more dangerous as the thaw began. The ice was firmly locked to the rocks in the shallows, and the water on top indicated that the water level had risen as snow melted off the drumlins and lower slopes of Creag Liaragan, and the other surrounding hills. There was still much snow higher up, both in the gullies (below 500m, seen here) and more general cover on the higher hills. |
