English: Amerigo Vespucci leads landing craft in an attack on the natives of the island of "Ity" (location uncertain, poss. Bermuda), on his first journey to the New World (1497-1499). As described by Vespucci in his Letter to Soderini (description). Engraving from c.1592 by Theodor de Bry (Flemish, 1528-1598).
