Anomalous dispersion - Pulse envelope is faster than optical carrier.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Pulse envelope is faster than optical carrier in material with anomalous dispersion.

1. In time delay this shows as larger delay of the carrier as the pulse propagates. 2. Group delay is smaller than phase delay. 3. Group velocity is bigger than phase velocity.

Pulse length dt=14 ps and carrier at 1000 nm. Model and animation was generated with Matlab.
