Osten nach Westen den Atlantischen Ozean

Urheber des Fluges war E. G. v. Hünefeld
Der Nordd. Lloyd + u + Vaterlandsfreunde
in Stadt und Reich + halfen ihn durchführen

+ Köhl + v. Hünefeld + Fitzmaurice +
die Deutschen und der Ire + flogen zu dritt
Der Abflug geschah in Irland die Landung
vor der nordamerikanischen Ostküste ++
Beim Versuch den Gelandeten Hilfe zu bringen
opferte sich der Amerikaner Floyd Bennett
Ehre seinem Andenken!

Im Herzen unsrer Stadt + bewahre diese
Tafel die Erinnerung an ein Unternehmen
das nach dem Weltkriege + ein friedliches
Zusammenwirken + zwischen dem
seefahrenden Deutschland u. seinen
