| Description |
English: On Saturday 2 January platforms 0–2 at Cardiff Central were closed to passenger traffic for the track through Platform 2 to be relaid. The railway kept running, with most mainline services being routed to and from Cardiff Central via the Leckwith Loop and Ninian Park and using platforms 3 and 4. City Line services via Ninian Park were suspended and some Cardiff – Taunton services were truncated to start and terminate at Newport. In this picture the 1V38 0930 Manchester Piccadilly to Carmarthen service is seen standing in Platform 3, while in the background the newly laid track meets the old track as the relaying work goes on. |
