Train at Cromore station

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Train at Cromore station
A 70-class DMU set works a Coleraine - Portrush train through Cromore station. Originally Portstewart station, the town was served by a tramway which closed in 1926. The tail-lamp seldom changed ends as the branch was generally worked on the basis of "one engine in steam". The station building, which was in a very bad state of repair by 1974, has since been fully restored and is now a private residence. My thanks to Robert McKirgan, who comments: "The small brick building, to the left of the "70 class" on the adjacent platform, was used to house the auxiliary tablet instrument, to save the signalman having to leave the cabin!"
