| Description |
English: Trent and Mersey Canal at Willington, Derbyshire. Here and for the next few hundred metres there are good moorings for visitors to stay the night and enjoy the services of the three village pubs. A red car will be observed in the picture, crossing the bridge carrying the B5008 Etwall Road. On the skyline are four of the five cooling towers of Willington Power Station. These are three hundred feet high. The power station was coal fired, and was de-commissioned by 1999, though plans to rebuild as a gas fired operation have since been discussed. |
