Summary[edit]

Description Tropical Storm Irene brought heavy storms throughout upstate New York, causing flooding and leaving tremendous amounts of debris, big and small, in the Hudson River. The Troy Lock was filled with debris including entire derelict boats and docks as well as vegetative debris ranging from leaves and branches to entire trees and power poles. Crews worked tirelessly to clear the debris out of the lock using heavy equipment to move larger pieces onto land for disposal and pikes to move smaller vegetative items into the Hudson River.
