| Description |
English: Tytherington Down near Tytherington This view looking south-east is the start of Tytherington Down, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), which is a botanically rich example of a well grazed grassland and is dominated by dwarf sedge types of grasses, see http://www.english-nature.org.uk/citation/citation_photo/1002922.pdf. The site is about 14 acres and spans both sides of a dry chalk valley. The farm track which comes from the Tytherington to Hindon Lane byway behind the camera, runs down the valley, and the site, for about 700m to Long Bottom, another dry chalk valley. |
