Description Photo of the U.S. Navy carrier USS Hornet (CV-12) from the cover of the ship's history issued to the crew on the occasion of Navy Day, 27 October 1945. The aircraft visible wear Hornet's air group identification "G-symbol", ordered on 27 January 1945. Hornet itself is painted in Camouflage Measure 33 Design 3A. Therefore the photo was taken between February and July 1945 when she was repainted in Camouflage Measure 22.
