Description
English: The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Leyte (CV-32) at anchor at Beirut, Lebanon, in August 1950. Leyte, with assigned Carrier Air Group 3 (CVG-3), was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea from 2 May to 24 August 1950. The deployment included a demonstration of airpower over Beirut on 13 August 1950, supporting Middle East countries against Communist pressure.
