Description
English: The U.S. Navy fleet oiler USS Severn (AO-61) refuels the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (CVA-59) and the heavy cruiser USS Des Moines (CA-134) in the Atlantic Ocean on 11 November 1956. Forrestal, with assigned Carrier Air Group 1 (CVG-1) had departed Naval Station Mayport, Florida (USA), on 7 November 1956, to operate in the eastern Atlantic during the Suez Crisis, ready to enter the Mediterranean Sea should it be necessary. She returned to Norfolk, Virginia (USA), on 12 December 1956.
