Description
Sømanden was built by N.J.E. Møller of Hobro in 1849 for captain H.C. Giese of Copenhagen. In 1873 his widow took over ownership. In 1875 the vessel was sold to Oscar Petersen of Kastrup, then in 1883 to the merchant J.P. Bryde of Copenhagen. In 1891 sold to M. Gylling, of Tranebjerg, Samsø and in 1901 to a buyer in Landskrona, Sweden. No known records after that. http://www.jmarcussen.dk/maritim/skibsliste/side.php?id=16987 (in Danish). The artist got a signal flag wrong. It should have shown "NFDG", but came out as "NFDC".
