Van In Zun or using his Russian name- Nikolai Ivanovich Van (Van is Wang) is a famous OGPU/NKVD officer-agent from the 1920s to the late 1930s.
This image has been colorized. The coloring is speculative and may differ significantly from the real colors.

| Description |
English: A rare photo of Nikolai Ivanovich Van (Wang). He is well known by Russian historians as having spent years behind Soviet lines as part of Operation Maki Mirage. In Russian, it says, "Behind the cordon-- "cordon" refers to the "forbidden zone/area" for normal Soviet citizens.
See p. 187 of a book in Russian by A. Suturin, Delo kraevogo mashtaba (the book). Page 187 shows Van with his young daughter and reads, "Легендарный боец невидимого фронта Ван Ин Зун Многие Годы провел эа Кордонем, выполняя Задания Родиныю. Perished at the hands of the UNKVD (Administrative NKVD) on May 25, 1938 while under interrogation. Caption states this as well (in Russian). |
