Summary
[edit]DescriptionView Along Eastbourhe Pier - geograph.org.uk - 1478226.jpg |
English: View Along Eastbourhe Pier Eastbourne Pier dates from 1872. It has suffered its share of damage from the elements, part being swept away in 1877, and during World War II the decking was removed and machine guns were installed to provide a useful point from which to repel enemy landings (shades of Walmington-on-Sea). The Pier offers attractive views, kiosks, amusements (including a Victorian camera obscura) and refreshment outlets - in my experience its 'Victorian Tea Rooms' (pictured centre) are well maintained while the fish and chip kiosk at the pier entrance serves up an excellent product. |
