Summary[edit]
DescriptionView from a cottage window - geograph.org.uk - 1705123.jpg |
English: View from a cottage window Blaise Hamlet is a collection of cottages designed in 1809 by John Nash, the architect more famous for his work on remodelling Brighton Pavilion and many other projects for the Prince Regent. They were built to house pensioners from the Blaise Estate. They are all different. All but one have stone slate roofs, while one is thatched. Two have dovecotes built under the eaves. They all have beautiful chimneys.
They are built round the green, but they do not all face in to the green. It is said that this was to minimise the pensioners' chance of gossiping with one another |
