Summary[edit]
DescriptionVolk's Electric Railway, Brighton - geograph.org.uk - 570377.jpg |
English: Volk's Electric Railway, Brighton Magnus Volk was an enterprising sort of chap. Not only did he build Britain's first electric railway, dating from 1883 and still in business, as seen here, but he also built a railway (nicknamed 'Daddy Long Legs') that ran in the sea from Brighton to Rottingdean. That one is gone for ever, but you can still ride the line pictured here during the Summer season. |
