Summary[edit]

Description
English: Votive relief of Cybele. Pentelic marble. Probably found in Athens. It has the shape of a double naiskos with a single pediment. In the naiskos at the right, the goddess is depicted according to the Phrygian type, probably as Mistress of the Animals, holding a drum and bowl, with a lion resting on her knees. In the left naiskos she is depicted according to the Greek type, probably as Queen-Mother of the Gods, since here she has a bowl and will have held a scepter, while the lion is seated next to her. Late 4th century B.C. Accession number: 1540. National Archaeological Museum of Athens. Athens, Greece. Text: Museum inscription.
