Summary[edit]

Description
English: Parachute used by the Special Operations Executive (SOE), a British World War II organisation conducting espionage, sabotage and reconnaissance in occupied Europe and Southeast Asia against the Axis powers, and to aid local resistance movements.

Photo taken on February 25th, 2020 at the Armed Forces Museum of Norway (Forsvarsmuseet) in Oslo, Norway.

The museum's description of the exhibited items:

Allied agents that were parachuted into German occupied territory during World War II were issued with a set of special coveralls. This jump suit was worn over the agent's clothes and it was supposed to be buried together with the parachute after the completion of the jump. The jump suit had a generous fit so that several layers of clothing could be worn underneath. The agent would then be able to advance towards the intended target disguised in civilian clothes or a German uniform.
The jump suit had several internal and external purpose-built pockets. The idea was that you should carry everything you needed in your suit. The suit was manufactured in a camouflage version and a white version. As far as we know, the white version shown here was only used in operations in German occupied Norway.
