Summary[edit]

Description
English: WWII concrete anti-tank cubes A twin line of anti-tank cubes once ran parallel to the coast to the rear of the dunes for about 100 metres, before turning almost due east towards the sea. Since covered by sand, a number of these cubes are now again being exposed by erosion and many of them have fallen onto the beach. A total of 94 concrete blocks are detailed on a map of a post-war coastal survey of defences: in August 1940 there was a single line numbering about 20 cubes, accompanied by a pillbox; the line was later doubled and lengthened. When the car park was built in 1973 these cubes were still in place. The anti-tank cubes are documented in the Defence of Britain database (reference number S0009102) from whence above information originates. Sheds or beach huts can be seen in mid-distance.
