Description
English: World War II monument in commemoration of academic victims and resistance fighters in a hallway at the Academiegebouw, the main building of Utrecht University, Domplein 29, 3512 JE Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Nederlands: Oorlogsmonument voor de gevallen studenten en stafleden, onder wie verzetshelden, van de Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, op de gang in het Academiegebouw, Domplein 29, 3512 JE Utrecht. Tekst met dichtregels: "Ons zwakke hart mag voor het sterven vreezen / Maar nooit veergaat wat zuiver is en groot / Willem de Mérode // † 1940-1945 †". Vier kolommen met samen 169 namen van gevallenen op de oorspronkelijke plaquette. Het oorspronkelijke monument kreeg in 1950 een eerste lijst van 72 namen. In 2011 werden aan weerszijden twee lijsten met samen 97 namen van gevallenen toegevoegd.
