Summary[edit]

Description
English: Stock certificate for 40 preference shares of £5 each of W.T. Henley's Telegraph Works Company, issued 23 November 1900, originally handsigned by the African explorer Henry Morton Stanley as a member of the board. He served in this function from 1900 until his death. Stanley became famous for the search for David Livingstone and the exploration and development of the Congo on behalf of the Belgian King Leopold II.
