Description

Die jetzige Kirche wurde im Jahr 1655 durch den Baumeister Elias Holl im Barockstil auf der Halbinsel neu errichtet. Die an gleicher Stelle gestandene Holzkirche wurde durch Blitzeinschlag zerstört. Im klassizistischen Stil wurde St. Georg 1871 bis 1920 immer mal wieder restauriert und 1976 erneut renoviert. Im Inneren sehenswert ist der barocke Hochaltar mit der lebensgroßen Figur des Heiligen Gallus und die Wappen sowie das Epitaph (Grabinschrift) der Fugger über der Sakristei-Tür.

Im Vordergrund zu sehen das »Fuggerschloss«, das aus der älteren »Wasserburg« der Montforter hervorgegangen ist.
