Summary[edit]

Description

English: Weißenstein (Lauterstein) subsection of the eastern Swabian Alb called „Albuch“, before 1974 it was a small municipal with all rights of a medieval town (“Stadtrechte” since 1384). In the back: The two symbols of power: the castle of the Counts of Rechenberg and the church “Mariä Himmelfahrt”. The Castle and the town were protected by a medieval wall, of which only a roofed stone stairway from the castle into the church remains. The position of the castle was strategically chosen to always protect the main medivial water supply for the sole use by the count, his court and his former brewery. For this purpose the cave spring had a tunnel waterway.
