Summary[edit]

Description

The last whale to be killed in New Zealand waters by NZ whalers and the Perano Whaling Station in Tory Channel, the last in the country, ceased to operate on the 21 December 1964.

The photo is of a whaling crew on an unknown beach in New Zealand circa 1930's or 1940's .

The image is from Archives New Zealand's former Post and Telegraph/Telecom Museum Holdings collection.
