| Description |
The first Whole Foods Market in the Chicago area to be built as part of a mixed use development, in this case adjacent to the Park Evanston apartment tower developed by The John Buck Company (one of the first residential high-rises built during downtown Evanston's current building boom). This location has rooftop parking leading to the turret entrance at the corner. One advantage WFM has over other grocers in urban settings is that it has something to place up against the sidewalk; its prepared foods are popular as eat-in meals, so café tables can line the city-required sidewalk windows. That said, they're still not above papering over the windows and backing display cases up against them. |
