Description
Deutsch: Das Wimbachtal liegt zwischen Watzmann, Steinernem Meer und Hochkaltermassiv. Der namengebende Wimbach fließt nur im unteren Drittel des Tales oberirdisch. Der obere Abschnitt ist charakterisiert durch einen breiten, bis zu 300 Meter tiefen Schuttstrom, dem "Gries". Botanisch interessant ist unter anderem die Aufrechte Bergkiefer oder Spirke, die sonst nur viel weiter westlich vorkommt (Pyrenäen, Massif Central, Schweiz).
English: The Wimbach Valley is located between the Watzmann, Steinernem Meer (Rocky Sea) and Hochkalter mountains. The water of Wimbach creek runs above ground only in the lower third of the valley. The upper part is characterized by a wide rock waste stream up to 300 meters deep, called "Gries". A botanical speciality is the mountain pine (pinus mugo uncinata), which usually grows much farther west (Pyrenees, Massif central, Switzerland).
