Summary[edit]

Description
English: Winterborne Houghton: postbox № DT11 59 This familiar style of 'lamp box' – named because they were designed to be affixed to lampposts or telegraph poles – was introduced only towards the end of King George VI's reign and remained in manufacture until the early 1990s. Relatively few, therefore, are George VI ones such as this. The box stands at the main village junction and is emptied each morning, except Sunday, at 9:30.
