Item caption/descriptive text, back: 2. Den drei Buben was es aber nicht schlecht gegangen. Der Aelteste was Schreiner geworden. Beim Abschied aus der Lehre erhielt er ein Tischlein. Wenn man zu diesem sprach: Tischlein deck dich! so standen auf einmal Schüsseln mit Gesottenem und Gebratenem darauf, auch der Wein fehlte nicht. In einer Herbe rge aber merkte der böse Wirt die Wunderkraft des Tischchens und vertauschte es nachts mit einem gewöhnlichen Tischlein. = But the three boys did not fare too badly. The eldest became a carpenter. When he left his apprenticeship, he was given a small table. If anyone said to it: "Table set yourself!" all of a sudden there were bowls of boiled and roasted food, and there was no lack of wine either. In an inn, however, the wicked innkeeper noticed the miraculous power of the little table and exchanged it for an ordinary little table during the night.
