Español: nombre científico Ximenia americana L. en Guatemala es conocido como árbol de la vida o en su nahualt como K'aslem Che'.

el uso de las plantas como agentes medicinales para el tratamiento de varias enfermedades ha sido investigado a lo largo del tiempo desde antiguas civilizaciones. diversas plantas son utilizadas en medicina tradicional contra enfermedades inflamatorias, así como para varios tipos de tumores debido a los principios activos de estas. la civilización maya ocupo gran parte del territorio guatemalteco y esta no fue la excepción en destace con sus descubrimientos aportando así diversos conocimientos médicos y transmitiendolos de generación en generación, que hasta hoy en día todavía son utilizados en distintas comunidades indígenas.

este es el caso de la aldea Sacala las lomas ubicado en el municipio de San Martin Jilotepeque del departamento de Chimaltenango pais de Guatemala.
